AMATEUR RADIO (ARES)
WELCOME TO THE KI4YJQ ARES Site!!!
The Southwestern Alabama ARES Group is responsible for all Amateur Radio Operators in Mobile County, Alabama. Inside Mobile County, there are 10 Amateur Radio Clubs and over 600 Amateur Radio Operators. Located on the Gulf Coast, hurricanes and several weather are common place.
The challenge of our group is to help prepared radio operators, and work with local, county, and state agencies for times of disasters. A couple of the ways is to encourage at the county level a maximum participation during the American Radio Relay League's (ARRL), October's Simulated Emergency Test (SET). Moreover, efforts are made to help the local "Field-Day" be a success.
Our nets are every Tuesday at 1900-hours (Local) on the ARES repeater 146.940 - (no PL/tone).
Our first meeting will be Tuesday May 15th at 6:30pm at the Goodwill Easter seals building at Schillingers and Cottage Hill. We have use of the facility for our meeting the 3rd Tuesday of every month.
Please navigate through our Web-Page. The objective of this page is to provide up-to-date information to local Amateur Radio Operators, and at the same time serve as a resource page. We invite any suggestions to improve this product. Please direct your comments to the "web-master."
